The health and safety coordinator (SiGeKo) is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all employees on the construction site and acts as an extension of the client.
According to the Construction Site Ordinance (BaustellV), the health and safety coordinator must be appointed during the planning phase so that all aspects relevant to the safety of employees can be taken into account when planning the construction project and appropriate safety measures can be implemented in the planning.
The SiGeKo acts proactively, i.e. he actively approaches those responsible for planning in order to ensure legally compliant planning from a safety perspective.
